EXMOOR FISHERIES

Exmoor Fisheries sustainably breeds and farms the highest quality Rainbow Trout for restocking. Located in the Haddon Hills of Exmoor, Somerset. The farm thrives off both virgin spring water as well the River Haddeo which filters down from the surrounding moorland.

The farm is owned by Dave and Kathie who took over the business in 1996 and Exmoor Fisheries was started. The hatchery and farm were redeveloped and improved to provide an excellent farming environment. Our hatchery production has now exceeded 700,000 fish, therefore enabling us to supply many other trout farms with their fingerling requirements.  The restocking production has also increased and now exceeds 120,000 fish ranging from 1lb to 12lbs, supplying farms, sports fisheries and lakes across England and Wales.

PORLOCK BAY OYSTERS

Porlock Bay has a long tradition of producing oysters with a reputation for taste and quality.

A map dated 1710 shows an oyster bed in Porlock Bay.

In the 1890's the oyster beds by Colchester and Whitstable were failing. A fleet of sailing ship dredgers from the East coast were sent to the Bristol Channel and simply stripped the channel beds clean, never to recover.

In 2014, Porlock Bay Oysters (Community Interest Company) was formed to investigate the possibilities of once again harvesting oysters from the bay

After successful trials we are now producing Pacific Oysters, which are also gaining an excellent reputation for their wonderful taste, as we carry on building on the rich heritage of harvesting quality oysters from Porlock Bay.
